Situado na vertente ocidental da serra da Estrela, o concelho de Seia é formado por 21 freguesias (115 localidades), ocupa uma área de 436 km2, pertence administrativamente ao distrito da Guarda e, segundo os censos de 2011, tem uma população de 24.641 habitantes.

Elevada à categoria de cidade a 3 de Julho de 1986, Seia é hoje uma cidade em expansão, apostando numa forte dinamização cultural e do turismo da região.
